Inside Sheen: The Kabul Team Building Websites and Apps for Afghans Worldwide
Sheen is a digital agency based in Kabul, Afghanistan. We design and build websites, mobile apps and online stores, and we run the search and advertising work that brings people to them. This post explains who we are, how we work and who we work for.
A Small Senior Team, Not an Agency Floor
Sheen is deliberately small. Suliman Hakimi founded the company and leads it. Jawad Hakimi works across the full stack as a developer and designer. Layla Wakily builds mobile apps and websites and handles UI and UX design.
That structure matters more than it sounds. On most projects you speak directly to the person writing the code. There is no account manager relaying your feedback to a team you never meet, and nothing is lost in the handover, because there is no handover.
What We Actually Build
Our work covers eight areas: web design and development, SEO and digital marketing, Google Ads management, social media advertising, e-commerce solutions, API integration, 3D web experiences and business automation. We also build mobile apps for Android and iOS.
Most projects combine several of these. A shop needs a store, payments and the advertising to fill it. An educational institute needs a website, an admissions form and search visibility so families can find it. We would rather deliver one coherent system than four disconnected pieces.
How a Project Runs
We start with a conversation about what the business actually needs, which is not always what was originally asked for. We agree the scope and the price before any work begins, so there are no surprises later.
Then we design, build and test. You see progress as it happens rather than a single reveal at the end. After launch we stay available, because a website that nobody maintains slowly stops working.
Who We Work For
Two groups, roughly. The first is businesses operating inside Afghanistan: shops, clinics, schools, construction firms and service companies in Kabul and beyond.
The second is Afghans running businesses outside the country. They want a team that understands both the language and the market they came from, and that can build to the standard their new market expects. We work in English, Dari and Pashto, and every site we build can run in all three.
The Technology
We build on Next.js and React. That is not a fashion choice. It produces sites that load quickly on slow connections, that search engines can read properly, and that can be extended years later without a rewrite. Every project in our portfolio runs on it.
Talk To Us
If you are weighing up a website, an app or a marketing campaign, the useful first step is a conversation, not a quote. Tell us what the business needs to achieve and we will tell you honestly what it will take.
